6 January 1871 — Madrid | |
Friday. 6th [January 1871]. Wrote letters & went for a few minutes to Palmaroli’s to settle how Arthur’s picture was to be done. After lunch Ad. & I went out in the brougham to see Mrs Hunt whom we found ill with a bad cold—& then left some cards & notes & came home early. Mme de Martino came to see us & then Mr Blanc & Sonnino & afterwards Mme Bedmar to talk about our dancing on Monday eveng. Soon after Mr Ff. came & said he would not dine with us to night but instead with Mme B to talk it over with her. Messrs Go & Spen: dined with us & Arthur went to the Opera with Mr Go. We did acrostics in the evening, & went to bed at 11. | |
