8 January 1871 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 8th [January 1871]. Arthur was not very well & did not get up. Hy, Adeline & I went to church in the morning & directly after lunch we went off to the Quartett Concerts. We had a disagreeable walk there as it was thawing & the snow running off the house tops. At the concert we met the Riaños & Mr Blanc & the latter sent me & A home in his brougham. Monasterio played besides the 2 quartetts a solo with the piano. Mr Blanc & Mme de Aylton & Louisa came to tea. Messrs Ash, Go Spen & Sey dined with us & not Mr Ff: who has a cold– Pal: came in in the evening & Adeline [played] the piano. | |
