26 January 1871 — Madrid | |
Thursday. 26th [January 1871]. We sent the carriage to the Dss de Frias’ funeral & in the afternoon Henry & I took a walk. We went to one or 2 curiosity shops & then 2 Laurents to get some photos for Alice Gordon & then walked home. Mme Bauer came to see me to ask us to go to the Opera tonight whereon appeared Mr Ash: saying the Opera had been put off—then came Mr Ff: We dined alone & afterwards I dressed & we went to the Dss de la Torres’ where we found a good many people. Serrano was at a Council of Ministers & did not appear. | |
