27 January 1871 — Madrid | |
Friday. 27th [January 1871]. M. de la Rochefoucauld & Miss Cavendish came for a few minutes & then appeared 2 Spanish ladies to my great astonishment as I had only been introduced to the daughter & thought it very pushing of them. I did not go out as I expected the two little Prims but they never came. At 7 Mr Ff: turned up for some dinner & we went directly afterwards to the opera to join Mme Bauer who came with Mr Nicholas. We heard La Sonnambula very badly performed by Tiberini & Perrotti who sang one more flat than the other, But were immensely applauded & called on 3 times. | |
