17 February 1871 — Madrid | |
Friday. 17th [February 1871]. I appears that just after we left the Presidencia last night the King went there unexpectedly & stayed sometime & then went on to the Bal Masqué. I had a lesson from Grau– Mr Ff: came at 9½. At 3 I went out & fetched the 2 Prim children. We took a walk in the Retiro & saw the animals. We met the Serrano walking with his ADC’s; we took a turn in the Fuente & came home at 5. Pal came to say good bye as he is going on an excursion of 5 or 6 days. Mr Spencer called & we asked him to stay & dine with us & Mr Ffrench. I dressed after dinner & we went to a dance at Marquise de Villapaterna but came home early. | |
