9 March 1871 — Madrid | |
Thursday. 9th [March 1871]. Our wedding day. I worked all the morng expecting Grau who did not come. At 3½ I went out driving & took Mme de Aylton with me. We left some cards & went to see the Riaños & saw the specimens of modern Spanish glass they are sending to the S Ken: Museum. We took a turn in the Fuente & picked up Henry & then came home. Pal. Blondeel, Gayangos & Mr Whyte dined with us & they played whist except Pal who went away early. Poor old W. played dreadfully & lost all his money in fact his playing was a fiasco. They went away at 11½. | |
