12 March 1871 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 12th [March 1871]. Church in the morng & afterwards Mr Whyte came up to talk to me abt sending a poor Eng. woman home to Malta. We lunched quickly & went off to the Concert at the Circo. We called for Bernadine de Aylton & then for Mme Bauer & took them with us to the Concert. It was very hot there. The Mss of Alcañices was there in a high comb with a mantilla also 2 young ladies in the same get up & after the concert when we drove in the Fuente they were driving there in the same costume. The young gentlemen dined in the evening. | |
