9 April 1871 — Toledo | |
Sunday. 9th [April 1871]. Easter Sunday. We went to the Cathedral abt 10 & met the Riaños & spent some time there looking at all the retablos of the chapels & went in to the Sacristias and I was very glad to find myself in the Sola Capitulao where Mrs Burr made her sketch last year. We then went to several houses where Mr B. Riaño had things for us to see & in one place we bought a little inlaid table & box & in another a fine tortoise-shell cabinet & so we walked abt till we were tired & glad to come home to lunch. At 3 Henry went out with Mr B. Riaño to see the Archives of wh he is keeper & at 4 they all came & fetched me & we went to see the Chapel of Cedilla & also to Sta Cruz where we sat for a long time pleasantly in the patio & then Henry & I came home & read till dinner. | |
