11 April 1871 — Madrid | |
Tuesday. 11th [April 1871]. I received a letter from the M. saying they were coming here & are to start today. I spent all the morning writing letters to Grannie, FEB. & Mrs Austen. After lunch Henry went out to the Cortés & at 4½ I went out driving. We heard that Lord Roden & Cecil Ashley arrived here this morng & we sent & asked them to come & dine. I picked up Henry in the Fuente & we drove & walked together & came home at 5:30. Mr Ff: dined here besides the 2 travellers & Pal came in to tea in the eveng. Lord R. returns to Seville & C. Ashley goes on to England tomorrow. | |
