18 May 1871 — Madrid | |
Thursday. 18th [May 1871]. We all went to Pals while she sat for her portrait. Henry took Major Holland to the Palace to present some books to the King. I went out driving with the M at 5½. Major H & Mr Twistleton dined & we sat up rather late as we were very much interested in hearing Mr T. tell us all the history of his writing that book on the handwriting of Junius & his having proved that it was the same as Francis’. | |
