23 March 1872 — Madrid
Saturday. 23rd [March 1872]. I was busy copying for Henry all the morning. The usual hymn practise at 2 o’clock. I did not go out as it was wet & windy. Henry walked out & Bouillé paid me a visit. I worked at tapestry mending & finished repairing the piece I have been about so long & with Hills aid I fixed another piece in the frame. Bernadine Aylton came & dined with us & at dinner the talk turned on journies & Henry proposed that he & I should go off to San Sebastian for a week & that we should start on Tuesday. Bernadine & I worked at the tapestry all the evening till she went home at 11½.
