3 April 1872 — Madrid | |
Wednesday. 3rd April [1872]. We arrived at 7.50 at Madrid & went home & breakfasted– I then laid down till 11½. At lunch time Esq: came to call & later Mr Ffrench who has returned from Palma since we left– Mr Ashburnham has had notice he is to go to Constantinople & we are very sorry to lose him. Eliz: came to see me & Mme Dragonetti who told me she was not well & the cause. We find it very cold & windy on our return. | |
