28 April 1872 — Toledo | |
Sunday. 28th [April 1872]. After breakfast we went to the Cathedral & after loitering abt there some time I went home & the others stayed till luncheon– In the afternoon they all walked to S. Juan de los Reyes & I being tired joined them in a carriage later. We took a drive round the out side of the town & crossed the river by the old bridge. There were streams of people going over it to a small chapel where there was a fête to the Virgin going on & it was very picturesque to see the people winding up the hill. We drove to the hospital & round to the puerta del Sol & went back to the Lodgings– Had dinner & went off early to bed– | |
