30 April 1872 — Madrid | |
Tuesday. 30th [April 1872]. We were very idle this morning. In the afternoon Mrs Burr, Susan, Henry & I drove to the Buen Retiro where we took a walk & then took a drive in Fuente– There we saw wonderful toilettes—one stout lady in a Victoria in a white satin gown embroidered with colored flowers—another with a postilion dressed in blue velvet & others quite as curious– At 4 ocl Morelli came into my boudoir & took a solemn leave of us—saying he had taken some medicine & was going to bed & to fast till tomorrow morning! Palmaroli dined with us. | |
