6 May 1872 — Madrid
Monday. 6th [May 1872]. At 3 o’cl: M. Bernar came to fetch us & took us to the house of the Duque de Pastrana to see his pictures. There are some very fine Reubens there, landscapes & drawings besides other very good pictures by other artists. Mme Bernar & a M. & Mme La Croix met us there. Mme La Croix is a Russian lady & he French. She draws very well & is a very nice clever person. She is large, tall & has a fine face with a nice expression. From the Pastrana house Morelli & Henry went to see another collection & we ladies went home– Mr Hambro went off to England by 6.30 train & Susan went to see him off. The Dragonetti’s, De Martinos, Nicolas, Milans del Bosch                dined with us & we had a great many people in the eveng it being our last reception.
