11 May 1872 — Madrid | |
Saturday. 11th May [1872]. Got up with headache. At 4 o’cl: the 2 Prim children, Venturita Serrano, Missy de Morny came & we drove to the Casa de Campo to have a picnic tea. We chose the same grove where we were last year when we came with Emilia. The 2 Hamilton boys joined us & we made a great fire & boiled the kettle & the children were highly delighted & dashed backwards & forwards between the spring getting water, washing cups &c. Getting the kettle boiled took so long that as soon as tea was over we had to pack up & go towards home. Susan & I went home with the Prim children with Isabelita, Ventura & Missy & they played hide & seek all the way till my headached so I was obliged to go to bed directly I got home. Susan dined at the Bauers & Henry & Morelli went there after dinner & brought her back. Mrs Hervey turned up with her daughter from Gib. | |
