17 May 1872 — Granada | |
Friday. 17th May [1872]. We were all so tired that we did not get up till late except Mrs Burr who was anxious to get to the Alhambra as she had not seen it for 25 years. We had a late breakfast & then strolled up to Contreras the Govr of the Alhambra– He took us over it & we then came back & dined at the table d’hôte at 5.30. We are disappointed to find it so cold here—we had hoped to find a much warmer temperature than Madrid. I put on a white piqué & was shivering. We went early to bed. | |
