8 June 1872 — Madrid | |
Saturday. 8th [June 1872]. Morelli went to the Escurial with Mr Goschen– I wrote in the morning & worked & at 5 we went out driving Henry, Susan & I. We called on Mme Prim who is getting quite cheerful again & then went to the Buen Retiro & walked. There was still a scirocco blowing & it was muggy & disagreeable. We took a turn in the Fuente & saw the King with 4 horses & 2 outriders. We waited dinner for Morelli & Mr Goschen who were a little late coming back from the Escurial. In the evening we did acrostics– | |
