9 June 1872 — Madrid
Sunday. 9th [June 1872]. There was no service today Mr Whyte being ill & so I wrote almost all day & after lunch we sat & talked to Morelli who left by the 6.30 train to return to Italy. When he left Henry & Susan & I went out walking by the Campo de Moro & round the Palace some by the road to the station. We found it so dreadfully windy & the dust so blinding that we came home as quick as we could. Mr Goschen & Palmaroli dined with us & we did acrostics in the eveng. Sr Ruiz Gomez came in & spent an hour.
