27 July 1872 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Saturday. 27th [July 1872]. Sat with Cornelia in the morning. There was a cricket match going on so I had to go out into the park to say good bye to Ivor & we had an early lunch & then started for Aldermaston. We had to change at Basingstoke & go to Mortimer station from where we drove to Aldermaston & arrived abt 6 o’cl: We found there Mr & Mrs Higford, Mrs Nassau Senior, Miss Thackeray, Mr Reeves, Lord Somers, Mr Shaw Lefevre & Mr Bruce & Mlle de Perpignan. After dinner we sat out a little but it was chilly & we were glad to go in & listen to Mrs Senior’s singing. | |
