29 July 1872 — Aldermaston Court, Aldermaston, Berkshire
Monday. 29th [July 1872]. All the “company” left & by lunch time Sir Robert Collier came & directly afterwards went out sketching. I begged to be allowed to accompany him & we went into the Park where he sketched one of the fine old oaks. Abt 4 I ran off to the lake where Henry & the Squire were waiting for me to fish. We fished till past 6 when we went up to the house & met the omnibus containing Susan Hambro & Grannie & Mr Gayangos. We had 2 clergymen & their wives at dinner from the neighbourhood.
