8 August 1872 — Tiefencasten
Thursday. 8th [August 1872]. Abt 8 o’clock we resumed our journey & went by the Julier Pass. We stopped at Molins to luncheon & then went on from there a little way on foot to pick flowers of wh we found a quantity much to Maria’s delight. We picked a lot & grubbed up some roots & got in to the carriage wh came after us with Hill & the luggage– The first part of the day it was very hot but it got cold towards the top of the Julier & we were glad of all our wraps. We got to Champfer abt 5 o’cl just in time to escape a heavy shower of rain. We found we had very nice rooms provided for us in a dependance of the Julierhof. We had tea on our arrival & went over at 7 to the usual supper & went early to bed—but we none of us slept much on account of the cold.
