23 August 1872 — Champfer
Friday. 23rd [August 1872]. A good deal of snow had fallen on the hills & mountains round & they were all powdered quite low down so I did not go down to the Springs & Henry went alone. I stayed indoors & wrote a lot of letters. Directly after 1 o’cl dinner Henry Maria & I went out driving to Badrutt’s at St Moritz where I consulted Dr Drummond. Did not like him. He may be clever but he is rough & more like a naval capt. than a Dr. We drove straight home as it was rainy & we sat in doors the rest of the day & I wrote to Dr Howell &c.
