6 September 1872 — Verona | |
Friday. 6th [September 1872]. We breakfasted abt 8 & went out to see more churches & the Picture gallery also Pegrasse the carver in stone. Henry bought two carved pieces. Abt 12 we went back to our hotel (delle Due Torri) & I went on with my sketch till the last moment before lunch & then we went off to the station. An excessively hot journey. At Vicenza Cortelazzo came to the station to see us. We arrived at Venice abt 5 & were met by Brown who took me in his gondola to the Pension Suisse. We dined & then I went at once to bed being tired & having a headache. Maria & Rd went with Henry to the Piazza. | |
