17 September 1872 — Turin | |
Tuesday. 17th September [1872]. We left Turin at 9. Mr Colnaghi met us at the station & got us a carriage to ourselves. We went by the Mt Cenis tunnel for the 1st time. We were only abt 23 minutes coming thro’. At the frontier Mr Paoli the chef de police was very civil, passed our luggage & got us a carriage wh we kept till we got to Culoz. We waited there for the Geneva train wh was 2 hours late & we got rather late to Macon. We went to the “Couronne.” | |
