14 October 1872 — Madrid | |
Monday. 14th [October 1872]. I spent all the morning making drawing notes with Lord Somers. After lunch he & I walked to the Palace where he left me to pay a visit to Mme Dragonetti & then Lady S. called for me in the carriage. We bought of the Mariana a set of mother of pearl knives, forks & spoons (doz of each) tipped with silver gilt for 36 douros. We dined early & went by 8 train to Toledo. Got there at 11—& went at once to bed. | |
