16 October 1872 — Toledo
Wednesday. 16th [October 1872]. Lord Somers & I rushed out sketching at the Puente San Martin & there sat all the morning. It was a grey dull day & all we had time to do was the pencil part. A carriage was sent to fetch us home to lunch. All the afternoon I sat indoors with Addie & Lady S. talking & working & then abt 5 Henry & I went off to the station where we met the De Gex’s & went home to Madrid. We got in abt 10 & went to bed. The De Gex’s took leave of us as they leave for England tomorrow.
