11 December 1872 — Madrid | |
Wednesday. 11th [December 1872]. I went to breakfast at the Dss de la Torre’s & coming home left some cards & called on Dss of Fernan Nuñez whom I found in. Mme de Vinent called, also Css Mirasol—later Mr Gayangos who arrived from England on Monday & Emilia & then the Bernars. We made Mr Gayangos come back & dine with us. When Giovanni brought us the papers he said “The man who brought the correspondencia says que haz sero & in la calle del Esperita Santo”– We heard nothing more & went to bed. | |
