25 December 1872 — Madrid | |
Wednesday. 25th [December 1872]. Christmas Day. Col Fitch managed to get a scotch church missionary to read the service for us– There were very few people at church & I had all the singing to do. After service Fitch brought Mr & Mrs Jameson & Mr & Mrs Moore & Miss Johnson to be introduced to us. After lunch I drove out called on Mme Dragonetti then to Mme de Canitz but she was too ill to see me– I went to the Whytes & saw 2 of the girls & then to the Recolletos to pick up Henry & brought him home. Mr & Mrs Hamilton, Mr John White, Col Fitch, Mr & Mrs Hunt & Messrs Seymour & Haggart dined with us & stayed chatting & taking tea after dinner. | |
