8 January 1873 — Madrid | |
Wednesday. 8th [January 1873]. I woke with a headache & got up late & had to keep on the sofa all day. Lord H & Mr F came in the morng & went to the Palace to see the Queen– Mr F. was taken ill & had to go to bed with feverish cold. Lord H. came back to luncheon—& went out again with Henry. Clarita came to see me– Luckily I got better by dressing time & we had a dinner of 16. The Serranos, Fernan Nuñez, Bernars, Bauer, Mendez Leals &c—& the Dss was in very good humour & nothing was said abt the quarrel. We settled that the Christmas tree is to be on 17th & we are to dine with them on 16th. | |
