26 February 1873 — Madrid
Wednesday. 26th [February 1873]. Ash Wednesday. It was too wet & windy to go out to the masquerade & probably there was none. Copied for Henry & wrote letters. I heard from Mme Dragonetti. The Barrals came to bid us goodbye as they intend leaving as soon as Count Maffei comes from London. Mme Ettling also came & took 5 tea with me. Henry went to see Castelar for the 1st time abt 6. Silvela family have all left for Bayonne & people are all rushing off.
