23 March 1873 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 23rd March [1873]. An extraordinaria of the Correspondencia this morng announce that the law was passed at 2 in the morning & the Assembly’s sessions suspended. I copied a little for Henry but had to give up & lie on the sofa in the dark as I had such a bad headache. Henry & Clarita went to the concert where they were joined by the Bernars– Letters from Maria & Sir Arthur Helps. He says he sent my letter to him on to the Q to read. In the evening I was better & able to get up to dinner the Ettlings Palmaroli &c dined. We looked over Owen Jooris book of ornament & sat up latish. | |
