25 March 1873 — Madrid | |
Tuesday. 25th [March 1873]. Had a lesson of Beck. It was a miserable day & we kept having tremendous showers; at 3½ I was going to try & go for a drive but just as I was starting it came on to pour again & I gave it up & set to work to unpick my court train as under the Republic I shall not require it here any more. After dinner I read aloud Ticknor & at 11 we went to the French Embassy where we as much bored as ever. | |
