1 April 1873 — Madrid | |
Tuesday. 1st April 1873. Lesson of Beck at 10½ & wrote in the morning. After lunch Henry & I went out in the open carriage & walked in the Recolletos but we found it dreadfully cold & unpleasant– We went to see Mme Montijo & found her sitting in her conservatory looking much aged & broken– She has been constantly ailing since the Emperor’s death wh much shook her. I had a bad headache & was obliged to go to bed at 7. Henry went to Bouillés as usual. | |
