17 April 1873 — Madrid | |
Thursday. 17th [April 1873]. Brehm called to see Mr Napier & Grau came to take Henry to see a picture by Mazo. Esql gave me a lesson. I went out & fetched Emilia for a drive & we went to walk in the Retiro where we met Henry but could not go far as it was so cold & began to rain—so we came home. We dined with the Canitz & met Rancès, Maffei, Vejarano, Gravenegg & Adee. In the evening the Ayltons, Romanas & a few men went there. We stayed late as Henry played whist. We took the Ayltons home. | |
