23 June 1873 — Madrid | |
Monday. 23rd [June 1873]. I woke with a swelled face & so I went off at once with Mrs Beale to the dentist. Hill began to pack for our leaving on Wedy. The dentist lanced my gums. On the way home I called to see Mme Canitz but she was ill. I had a leech put to my gum which relieved it but it bled all day. I worked away at my frame work to try & finish it by the time we go. I had to give up going with Emilia to see Mme Saavedra but I sent the carriage for them & they came to see me. In the eveng a few people came the Bernars & a few whist players. | |
