22 August 1873 — Achnashellach
Friday. 22nd [August 1873]. Wrote & copied music all the morning. After lunch I drove with Cornelia, Duke & little Francie & we went to fish at Kelso in the “sea pools.” Of course I caught nothing & it soon began to pour I covered myself with my waterproof & walked to the Lodge nearly getting wet thro’—at least my boots. Mary Cross gave me some tea & a pair of her stockings & I drove home without any boots. It cleared & we got home before the rain set in again. After dinner we made a great row singing glees–
