25 August 1873 — Achnashellach
Monday. 25th [August 1873]. Blanche’s birthday. Ivor went away early stalking towards Coolen & will return tomorrow– Cornelia, Blanche & I went in the boat on the lake trolling. We took “The last days of Pompeii” & read aloud to each other. It was very windy & rough but we caught 2 large trout. After lunch we went out to see the loch netted– There were 2 hauls & the 2nd they took a very fair salmon of 28 lbs. All Ivor’s children came out to see the netting– Blanche & Mr Kennaway went to Coolags to fish while Henry, Cornelia & little Francie & I went to call on the Shaws—but happily they were not in. B. & Mr K. came home late & we were at dinner before they came.
