9 September 1873 — Eastnor Castle, nr. Ledbury, Herefordshire
Tuesday. 9th September [1873]. Lord Somers got out a lot of tapestry to show us. It was hung over the banisters of the stairs for inspection & we sat on the stairs where we were discovered by a party of tourists who had come to see the house. I had a headache & was obliged to retire to the sitting room attached to our appartment & lie down on the sofa where I remained for the rest of the day. It poured hard most of the day– At last it cleared & everyone went out walking but me– Went to dinner & was all right– Music in eveng & Mr Bourke recited “Shameless OBrien”–
