22 September 1873 — Milton Court, nr. Dorking, Surrey
Monday. 22nd [September 1873]. Spent the morning in making a design for stencilling the wall of the dining room. Sent out the pattern in paper, stuck it on the wall & colored it. After lunch we took a turn round the garden with Alice to see the improvements they are making & at 4 drove off to the station. Mr Rate & the little Boy & Ida went with us. We got to town a little after 5—arranged things & packed. Expected Lady Somers to dinner but she did not turn up so we went early to bed.
