1 October 1873 — Bordeaux | |
Wednesday. 1st October [1873]. Excessively hot day. We drove out to go to the cathedral wh is very interesting outside. Went to S. Nicholas & S. & then to M. Wurstenburg to see his cellars wh he showed us & had them lighted up with candles at intervals– Went back to hotel & lunched. A visit from Consul Mr Hunt—& then we went out for a walk to look for antiquity shops & birds & did not find anything we cared to buy. Dined at 7½ & went early to bed having to be up early tomorrow. | |
