19 November 1873 — Madrid | |
Wednesday. 19th November [1873]. Copied for Henry in the morng who was very busy with this Virginius affair. At 3 Castelar called & thinking Henry was out I recd him when Henry turned up. Afterwards came Serrano with an ADC & has a confab with Henry. I had a cold & did not go out. At 5 Mr Hunt payed me a visit while Henry was gone to try & calm down Sickles. Brehm came. Also Mr Doria who arrived this morning from Lisbon on his way to his post St Petersburg & he stayed & lunched with us. Bkgammon & organ in the eveng. | |
