20 November 1873 — Madrid | |
Thursday. 20th [November 1873]. Woke with a headache & did not get up till after luncheon. Clarita came while I was still in bed & payed me a long visit. Henry went out riding. At 5 Castelar came to see him & Maffei called. He says Sickles is still furious & packing. After dinner Ruiz Gomez came. I played harmonium. Later came Jabat, Vanden Bosch, Figueras & they played whist till late. | |
