5 December 1873 — Madrid | |
Friday. 5th December [1873]. Up late. Messenger arrived from Lisbon. Visit in morng from Mr Jameson. I had to copy despatches to go by F Messenger. Clarita came in great trouble abt alterations in the Register wh is so troubling Mr Hunt. Mr Robbins lunched with us. Henry & I went out driving. Our horse came down but was not hurt. We went to the Exhibition to see the model then & there of Cartagena & then we walked down the Fuente. It was a regular wintry day & there was ice in the fountains. The Riaños called Mr Hunt came in– Later Mr Underdown—after dinner Mr Hunt came again & Henry consoled him. Played organ– | |
