22 December 1873 — Madrid | |
Monday. 22nd December [1873]. Rather a headache so only wrote a couple of letters & worked. Went out driving with Henry. Walked in Retiro & met Dss of Fernan Nuñez. Came home early. Clarita came to say Mr Hunt has another nervous attack over a missing leaf in the register. Backgammon. A few people came in the eveng. There was whist & we also had a new amusing game of 21. Mme Canitz & Marquesa Casa Torres & Pss Fuenrubia were the only ladies. It was said there is a little commotion in the Bas quartiers on acct of the changes of [illegible word]. | |
