31 December 1873 — Madrid | |
Wednesday. 31st [December 1873]. Henry & I translated a long despatch together. Was going out with Dss & she put me off so as it was a dark damp day I did not go out but wrote & practised. Mr Austin called at 5. We allowed the servants to give a dance this evening to their friends &c we dined at 7 & they danced downstairs in 2 of the empty rooms & we went early to bed so as to let them enjoy themselves. | |
