5 January 1874 — Madrid | |
Monday. 5th January [1874]. I wrote letters & did some translations for Hy. Serrano & 2 ADC’s called to see Henry so I had the ADC’s in my room. After lunch I went to see the Dss and found her packing up the things in her little house in order to move to the Presidencia tonight. I called to enquire after Castelar & then met Henry in Fuente & took a turn with him. We set to work to finish translating Castelar’s message, I writing & Hy dictating. We finished by dinner time. In the eveng the Morets, Mme Canitz, Bernardine & a few men came & we played 21. | |
