12 January 1874 — Madrid | |
Monday. 12th January [1874]. Copied for Henry. I expected the Serrano children at 2½ so did not go out till 3½ but they did not come. We took a walk in the Fuente. Few people came in the eveng. Bauers, the Canitz & Louise Maffei & we could not even get up a whist party. Henry had a letter from the Dss letting him [know] that Cartagena had fallen & the Junta had escaped in the Numantia. | |
