8 February 1874 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 8th [February 1874]. Carrie & Ada Hamilton came with their father & as he went to talk to Henry I went with them to church. In the afternoon I wrote letters while Henry went out to see the Count de Valencia de Don Juan’s things & came back later to fetch me & to take me to call on the Sickles’. Found them all packing, that is sitting in the greatest confusion having only the dining room to sit in. We came straight back from the Sickles. M. & Mme Bauer came to see us. Then Aurelie & afterwards the Polo family. News of Arthur’s defeat at Poole. Dinner as usual. | |
