13 February 1874 — Madrid | |
Friday. 13th [February 1874]. Got up late. Mirecki called to ask me to lend him some music. After lunch I went to Gardeners & then rejoined Henry in the Prado & got out to walk with him. We went up the Recolletos & met Canitz & Ittersum, asked how Aurelie was as she had sent word she did not receive tonight. It appears she is laid up with fever. We also met the Bauers & walked to the top of the Fuente with them. After dinner we went to the Bauers & found there all our Legation & a lot of men who had been dining there. Albareda who was in great spirits & who talked tremendously loud. Ruiz Gomez &c &c. I had a headache & was not sorry to get home. | |
